How to Align with God’s Will, According to a Worship Minister
How can you truly align with God’s Will in your own life? Have you ever felt the weight of this life—long hours with no better pay, joblessness, sour relationships, and constantly having to show up everywhere, by fire, by force? I’m talking about those days when you’re tired, running on empty, drained, and out of your element.
I’ve reached that point, and it’s not funny.
The truth is, we’ve all felt this in some way. When you can no longer deny that something needs to change, the man above must perform a miracle here and now.
And no, we don’t want Him to send someone. We’re desperate and yearning to align with our Maker during this time. Aligning with God isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s the key.
That’s the message I walked away with this past Sunday when Minister Elizabeth shared a sermon that hit differently.
Minister Elizabeth’s Powerful Testimony
Elizabeth is a worship minister but also a woman with a story that so many of us could relate to.
She opened up about how, sometime back, she had a cold and was dragging herself to work despite having 80 hours of sick time she had accrued. Her supervisor saw her huffing and puffing at work. Yet, she insisted she would be okay. Elizabeth was sent to a room alone because her sneezing and cough worsened.
Here is the kicker— she had some 80 hours of sick time and could not use it. She was pushing herself beyond her limits; in fact, it took the supervisor to tell her not to show up the following morning till she got better.
Does this sound familiar?
Aligning with God’s Blueprint
Elizabeth spoke of alignment as being in tune with God, embracing His blueprint for our lives, and prioritizing our spiritual health the way we prioritize everything else, we begin to live differently. We begin to align with God’s will, trusting that His plan is greater than our own.
Here is the truth about aligning ourselves with God— everything else builds on this; when we align ourselves with God and His word, she shared, we don’t just go through the motions but do life differently.
We start seeing things from God’s perspective, and the stories we once told ourselves begin to change. The fear that we once had is replaced with courage, and we start to change for the better. We begin to trust God, and the issues we thought were big and impossible begin to become smaller in our eyes.
Think for a moment when a car is misaligned. It veers off the road. The same goes for us: when we are out of alignment with God, we lose direction, and life becomes harder and unbearable. But when we align, everything begins to fall into place. We do not have to fight every battle because we have placed ourselves under His care.
Minister Elizabeth’s analogy of car alignment was simple but powerful: when we align with God, life becomes easier because we embrace His word as a tool to steer us through even the hardest times. Imagine having a word for every situation you face. That is the power of aligning with God’s word.
Don’t get me wrong. This does not mean that things will always be easy; it means forsaking our knowledge and understanding, knowing that God knows what is good for us. Matthew 6:33: “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you.”
She closed with the words in Isaiah 55:6 -12, reminding us that when we seek God, we are aligning with His will, and when we do that, His word will never return to him empty. It will accomplish what it was meant to do. Look at Abraham’s story at 90 years old, yet God promised him a son. When God speaks, he makes it happen even when it is impossible in our eyes.
Align with God’s Will for 2025
As we move into 2025, I challenge both myself and you to align with God’s will more intentionally. What does alignment with God look like for you? Is it being prayerful, living with integrity, or showing kindness? Alignment means seeking His kingdom first—not just on Sundays or during specific times, but every single day. It’s about putting as much effort into nurturing your faith as you do into your job, goals, and dreams.
When we align with God, everything tied to us begins to change. The challenges we once struggled with become easier to navigate because we have connected ourselves to a higher source of wisdom. Through this alignment, transformation happens.
So, in 2025, will you fully embrace what sets your soul on fire as you align with God’s will, or will you continue to tell the same old story?
