2024 Tested Us, But God !!

2024 tested us in many ways and now it’s time to leave the past behind and welcome 2025.

Can you believe it’s already here?
January was just the other day, and here we are. Another year, 2024 gone. My mom always says, “The year didn’t just run; it flew!” And that’s how it feels.

Like a week ago, an extraordinary woman who has carved out a space for women to laugh, cry, and share their journeys in our community asked a profound question: What are you leaving behind as the year ends? The answers were diverse and interesting. Challenges, heartbreak, disappointments, some extra pounds, and so on.

Most of us are psyched to shut the door in 2024 by fire by force. Truth be told, I am also looking towards the new year, but not sooo fast, until we pause and take stock of what 2024 gave us. Please chill and read on.

2024 Tested Us All

Let’s be honest: 2024 wasn’t a smooth ride or a walk in the park. 2024 tested us. From the diaspora to the motherland spaces, we’ve all faced our fair share of heartbreaks, disappointments, and insane battles. Yet, here we are. Still standing. Still breathing. And for that, we remain grateful.

This year has tested our resilience, I tell you. 2024 tested us and we defied some bizarre type of odds. And even the ones that hit us? They didn’t take us out. Put your dance shoes on and dance to my fave song, “Tiga niwe,” meaning if it were not for the Lord, my enemies would have finished me.

Isaiah 54:17 reminds us, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Think about the weapons forged against you this year: the doors slammed in your face, the isolation meant to break you, the disappointments designed to discourage you. The sicknesses you endured, the financial hardships, the many tears that threatened to drown you, death and loss 2024 tested us, yet, here you are—not because of your strength, but because you were helped.

( and, lol, some other ones that only you and God know)

Allow me to say that in 2024, despite everything that is happening and has happened, we have been MARVELOUSLY helped by God. God has been good even in our confusion and the mess we find ourselves in.

As 2024 ends, let’s give thanks—not only for material things, social standing, influence, or achieved goals, but for God being our rock. Thank Him for the strength to withstand the storms, the growth that pain brought, and the capacity to resist and keep going. Expanding our ability to endure hardships and keep moving forward.

If things you wanted did not happen in 2024, keep believing. 2024 tested us, but God provided what we needed, and that is what truly matters. .

As we enter 2025, let’s carry this: “In everything, give thanks.” Praise Him, not because it’s easy, but “because he is worthy of our praise and he is God. “breathe deep. Thank Him for a moment for this year And the year to come.
