What Is Holistic Living?

Holistic living means balancing all aspects of one’s life, including the mind, body, and soul.

Embracing holistic living will require you to take intentional actions that are healthy for your well-being. It does not happen overnight; We must be intentional and adopt holistic living.

If you have yet to start practicing this, it is good to start. It is not complicated; with consistency and commitment, it is achievable. From personal experience, you must make a conscious decision if things have to change for you.

This article will guide you on the actions that you should take to achieve that. However, before tackling ways of adopting holistic living. Take a look at the various aspects:

Holistic Living

The Mind

This is mostly about your thoughts. Negative thoughts, trauma, and stress have severe effects on the body and, at times, manifest when it’s too late. Therefore, becoming a life learner and expanding your view of things is essential. Embrace a growth mindset, as it determines your actions.

The Soul

Taking care of your soul means connecting with something higher than you spiritually( in my perspective). Connecting to a higher being/power affords you a pathway to finding your life purpose, which is fulfilling and significantly enhances your health. You acquire values that govern your life.

The Body

The body houses the mind and the soul. It is easy to understand the holistic aspect because it is physical.

Taking care of your body involves exercise through daily movement, clean eating to include whole food choices to achieve optimal health, and getting enough rest. Failure to take care of your mind and soul affects your body.

7 Ways You Can Achieve Holistic Living

Adopting a holistic lifestyle is about finding balance in all areas of your life. You can incorporate one or more of the following practices to cultivate a more harmonious and fulfilling way of living.

1. Mindfulness Holistic Living By Meditation

Many things can cause us to have stress or be overwhelmed. For example, you have a job or running a business, kids to take care of, and chores to do, to name a few. This can make you run through life as a routine, but life is more than that.

Create a routine of having some time alone and quieting your mind. You can start by doing it weekly, and with time, you can do it daily.

2. Setting Clear Intentions, not goals

Holistic living is a journey and process, not a destination. So, do not set goals; set an intention. That is taking a day at a time. It enables you to set daily tasks and achieve daily results.

With intentions, you achieve consistency and allow yourself to learn and grow from your mistakes. With goals, you only focus on the results, which are unhealthy as they can be overwhelming.

4. Having a Continuous Learning Habit

I know you have heard the saying that you stop growing when you stop learning. Learning should be continuous even if you are no longer in school. Your mind grows when you are learning.

The good thing is that you do not have to enroll in a school to learn. There are different ways and platforms of learning, thanks to the internet. You can read blogs, take an online course, or watch YouTube videos.

5. Regular Working Out

Working out gives you a strong body and is suitable for your mind. It will enable your body to produce hormones that are known as dopamine. This hormone alleviates your mood and relieves your body of stress.

You can work out for a short time to achieve that. With 30 minutes a day, your workout will yield results. A good workout should build your body in endurance, strength, and flexibility with balance.

6. Eating clean

Eating clean will involve avoiding processed and junk food. Instead, opt for more vegetables and fruits.

Drinking water is also part of eating clean. A healthy diet will boost your body’s immunity against disease. You also feel better when you are eating right.

Clean eating will involve eating a lot of homemade meals. That is fantastic for your finances.

7. Foster Meaningful Relationships

Holistic living involves nurturing your connections with others. Spend quality time with loved ones, engage in meaningful conversations, and surround yourself with people who uplift and support you.

Building strong, positive relationships creates a sense of belonging and contributes to emotional well-being.
