What God Promises For Seasons Of Brokenness
When you’re in a season of turmoil, it’s easy to feel that God is distant, and that you’ve been abandoned. It’s in these Seasons of Brokenness that we often feel helpless, thinking that morning will never come.
But this isn’t true. Even in the darkest moments, God is always present, especially in Seasons of Brokenness. He works behind the scenes to guide us, even when we feel like we’re at the end of our rope.
If you’re struggling to believe it, here are four promises God makes to us during our Seasons of Brokenness.
1. God Will Neither Fail You Nor Abandon You
About two months ago, I lost a big client. The client leaving meant I would have no income for a couple of months. It was scary. And as a person who deals with serious anxiety, my spirit and heart were in great turmoil, wondering what the future held for me.
So, one morning, as I prayed, I asked God to lead me to a verse that would ease my fear and anxiety. He brought me to this verse I’m about to share, and it has become one of my favorite verses since it gave me so much courage and, most importantly, the peace that I craved.
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid, and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”- Deuteronomy 31: 6
Contextually, Moses is asking the Israelites and Joshua not to fear their enemies. After all, God had promised that He would go ahead of his people and deliver their enemies to them.
As believers, we can rest assured that God has already gone ahead of all our troubles and brokenness. So, just like the Israelites, you need not panic or be anxious.
Instead, remember that God has promised to go ahead of you in a season of brokenness. He will not fail you or abandon you because He is your father.
2. Your Endurance Will Bear Joy
Asking someone to endure is a hard thing. Because endurance is no easy feat, especially when everything goes wrong left, right, and center.
But even in seasons of brokenness, God has called us to endure.
In Hebrews 12, Paul talks about endurance. He calls believers to run with perseverance, the race marked for us. According to Paul, by enduring, we can experience the same joy that Christ experienced when he endured.
But how exactly do you endure? How do you stay hopeful and thankful when your life is not going according to plan?
“…by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.”
In other words, keep your trust and faith in God. For those who trust in the Lord are like Mt Zion, which can never be shaken but endures forever.
3. In Your Weakness, God Will Be Your Power
Hardships and brokenness have a way of leaving us weak— in prayer, in hope, and in faith. But when calamity and suffering leave you weak, God has promised to be your strength.
In Corinthians 12: 7-10, Paul is talking about a thorn in his flesh that God had ‘declined’ to remove. Instead, God told Paul that, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Whenever things get hard, remember that God is your strength. Call out to him and He will keep you going.
4. Morning Will Come
Finally, remember that Morning will Come. The Bible says that “…his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”- Psalms 30:5
Peter also goes ahead and assures us in 1 Peter 5:10 that,
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
